OLCAP provides practical tailoring and sewing skills training to unemployed women, equipping them with the knowledge needed to start small income-generating tailoring businesses. Through hands-on instruction, participants learn how to sew school uniforms, dresses, skirts, shirts, and trousers, enabling them to offer essential services within their communities.
OLCAP recently supported five women to develop professional tailoring skills that allow them to earn a sustainable income. The training also included instruction on producing reusable sanitary pads, helping address menstrual hygiene challenges and ensuring that girls do not miss school due to a lack of adequate menstrual care products.
These skills create opportunities for self-employment, financial independence, and community impact. By producing school uniforms and affordable clothing locally, the women generate income to support their families while contributing to improved girls’ education, menstrual health, and economic empowerment.
Through initiatives like this, OLCAP continues to promote women’s empowerment, vocational skills training, poverty reduction, and sustainable livelihoods in the communities we serve.
I have attached the pictures to add to the page. For photo positioning on the page, start with 8 (cutting material), 7,13,1, 19, and 8 (finished uniform) as that sequence shows the training to cutting material, to sewing, to completed product.
