Clean Water

Clean Water

Rural communities in Western Kenya face a severe water crisis, relying on contaminated springs, streams, rivers, and ponds.

Without piped water to homes or schools, women and children must walk long distances to fetch polluted water, causing many girls to miss school or arrive late.

These water sources are contaminated by animal waste, chemicals from factories, and local gold mining.

As a result, waterborne diseases account for 60% of hospital visits, straining already limited household incomes.

This highlights the urgent need for a sustainable, reliable clean water supply.

OLCAP is committed to addressing this crisis by rehabilitating springs, restoring water sources, and constructing wells to provide safe, clean drinking water.

This initiative aims to reduce the risk of waterborne diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, and dysentery, improving health and overall well-being for these vulnerable communities.
